Journal, online meeting #25

A story that always comes to mind for me is a story of a man who has the will and the smarts to survive in the extremely cold weathers, dangerous wild life, and fearless enemies. Where he has lost everything but will not give up the will to live for some unknown reason. It’s a movie called the “Revenant” This movie has taught me many things about the struggles of life back then and what they went through just to make money and no matter how bad life gets always find the will to live and survive through the bad and the worse. This has been one best stories I have ever heard and I don’t think I’m going to forget it any time soon. This is one of the first stories that pops into my head when someone asks what is the best story I’ve heard. This story came straight to my head right after I read the journal topic. I highly recommend anyone watching this great story of hardship and great challenges to over come. This doesn’t have high graphic content but is still a great story.

No Guts No Glory

As you can tell by the title this post will be about having the courage to do something in order to achieve greatness and you can also say “risk it for the biscuit”. When Beaty and the fireman Pull up to Montag's house he knows that they know he has a book and did something “illegal”. The question was that, do you think it was worth it for Montag to read all those books? Honestly I really feel like it wasn’t worth it to read all those books because he did live a more comfortable life than others but how he felt and what he was going through and what he was starting to realize about what’s happening around him I understand completely why he would read all those books, I would’ve done the same things. Because who doesn’t have the curiosity to learn what reading is like and what really happens back then and why are books illegal. He begins to understand that it is cruel to control people and begins to see that Beaty is controlling and selfish and wants to see everything burn in front of his eyes. What Montag did was a rebellious act and what any real normal would have done the same thing to have actual peace and freedom for all.

Journal April 13

Everyone is going to have different experiences in this pandemic and some similarities as well. Some might have to work and help around the house more and not be able to homework and study because of how busy they will be. Then there are others who have a lot of time on their hands and just choose to not do it. Then finally there are the students who want to thrive and be something in life after this pandemic and have a future and really care about their education. For me I’m more in the middle really, because I really care about my future and really want to be something in life and have a comfortable living when I’m older but I procrastinate quite a bit and choose not to do my work I know that is going to have change very very soon. But I do help my parents and family members as well with cleaning and supporting them with the house and problems while trying to stay healthy. I know I’m not the only one going through this and I know many others have it WAY worse than I do so I can just be grateful for what I have and that I’m able to be healthy and have an education.

The Glory of the Mistake

I’m the story of Fahrenheit 451 Montag has read a poem to Mildred friends and it had a huge impact on them and how they feel towards everything. Mildreds friends had started to feel sad and one of them even started to cry and then the all started to rush out and leave Montag and Mildred’s home. Montag knee he had made a mistake but the professor Faber wasn’t mad at all at Montag. He told him  that it is okay if you make mistakes. Because it is apart of life and nothing can evolve with mistakes and changes and learning from those mistakes. He told him that as long as you learn from your mistakes it’s okay to make another mistake, as long as you don’t make the same one because then you wouldn’t be learning from it at all. Because the worst you can do to your future is not try and go out to fail. Because a fail is a fail if you let it be a fail. If you look at it as a challenge and overcome that that mistake or challenge the you are learning and evolving to be a greater and better person for yourself and others around you.

Case for War

Life being held in one place and not having a choice in leaving is a bad way to live. Because even if I wanted to leave (in which I can) I have a chance of getting a horrible virus that can harm my way of living all together. Living this way is hard and challenging for anyone. Having to deal with homework, home problems and and this horrible virus is a tuff living. Because the class work that has been dumped on all students because schools had no idea what to do because of this happening so fast. Not one person right now has it easy and everyone has to come together and work together to get through this pandemic the best way possible. So if you are a person that needs help reach out to someone or even if you do have everything figured out. Go reach out to others to see if they need help in these troubling times because wouldn’t you want help if you were in trouble?

Sometimes You Need A Professor

There is nobody in the world that has all the answers to every little question, so you might ask someone else to help you answer your question that you need answered. I remember when I had a question needed answering and when I would ask someone about it they wouldn’t even tell me because they had no clue either. My question was that weather or not the human race came from reptiles and evolution or was it from some kind of “god” that brought everything to life and made everything around us. I didn’t know which to believe weather we came from evolution or a god. So I looked it up I’m google. I found out that the human race along with all the other life forms on this planet came from bacteria in water which evolved and grew into fish. Then those fish adapted to the environment around them and evolved to breath oxygen and walk on legs. So then some of the species branches off and evolved into other kinds of animals like reptiles and birds and mammals. Then evolved into apes which evolved into humans and the human race and evolved and gotten smarter and devolved many technology to become the alpha species in thinking. I don’t actually know whether to believe this but I have searched this topic again and again and have seen the same answer so it must be true and I can’t really see how it can’t be true.

This Cat Is Curious

Not one person doesn’t have curiosity once in a while and is willing to do crazy things to find their answer they are looking for even if it is dangerous. The saying “curiosity killed the cat” is one of many sayings to people with curiosity and want to find answers. I’m can be for personal gain or for someone else that wants to know that can benefit you and others. But others can be more curious than others and some people are scared of curiosity than others will be. That’s when those people will warn others from being curious but really without we wouldn’t have gotten this far in life. Because being curious got a caveman to make fire, being curious got Benjamin Franklin to make electricity, and bring being curious got man to make the most destructive weapon called a nuke. Being curious can be a good or bad thing and can have different consequences weather they are good or bad. But being curious is never a bad thing it’s part of life to be curious and nobody can ever evolve without failure and the curiosity to try again and again until they find their answer and the result they are looking for.

My Inner Happy

Being happy is an amazing thing that everyone wants at every second of every day because it just feels good. In Fahrenheit 451, Beatty states that it’s external things that make us happy like sports , entertainment, or food. I totally agree with her because if it’s something we can see and feel that only brings us happy thoughts when we think about it then it’s the thing that brings us happiness. Not one person can have the same exact one and not one person is so different from one another on what brings them happiness. Like a person might bring someone happiness when they are with them or the someone playing a sport might bring them happiness because of good they are at it. People will always crave happiness and happiness is really what keeps everyone going because without what are we and what do we have tom live for. Friends and family bring people happiness most of all and without them people basically have nothing to live for and that is what everyone has I common.

United We Stand

The time when everyone should see that independence is the most important thing at that time is when our leaders start to take away our freedom to gain wealth and more power. Because taking a stand for our freedom is never wrong and independence is what anyone should have, regardless of age, color, ethnicity, place of birth, or ranking because inside we are all the same and made the same way weather you like it or not. And if you find out that someone came into this world some other way let me know because the last time I checked nearly everything on this planet called “Earth” is related to one another in some way or all the way with some arguments changed to there appearance. So every man and women should be treated the way they would like to be treated because after all each other is all we got against climate change and the real fact that this plant “Earth” will soon run out of materials and when hat comes what would we do.

Books and New Technology

Every one has their own opinion on the new books and new technologies these days. Some might say that “it’s all useless and that nothing can beat the old texture and style of a good old fashion book.” While others would say “why would anyone want to buy one old broken book that is going to rip after a while when you can buy one phone or laptop or even a computer and have a million books at the touch of a few buttons.”  Or there are people that don’t read at all and rather learn on they see and experience themselves. But regardless of what anyone opinions are on this, the today world requires that you must read and and learn how to do things by reading so if you like the old fashion way of reading then go for it. Or if you rather go on your computer or phone to read then I’m sure no one will stop you. Because reading is reading after all and if it’s all the same to you I will stick to both.

Is It Me

I believe that how we are raised and how we see the world when we are barley see what is happening around us as an infant is what makes our personalities as are growing up from a young age. A kid that has only grown up to know his place and to take orders is going to be an obedient kid and won’t step out of line even if he knows it’s the right thing to do. Then if there was a kid who his parents let him do whatever he wants whenever he pleased then he sometimes would have grown up to a reckless person who thinks he his above the law and doesn’t need to listen to anyone else but himself. But it all depends on how the kid sees things because every single person will not experience the same thing. Everything is going to be different for every kid and every kid will grow up differently depending on what they have experienced and what made them happy or sad will make then when they get older and older.

Breaking The Law

Following the law is always a must do for everyone because the law is what keeps society from anarchy. But I believe that some times breaking the laws and rules is better than following them in order to keep to peace and show what is right from wrong. Because some rules are worse than others and some rules benefit different kind of people. I also believe that some rules are meant to be broken in order to have “fun”. But besides all that there are times when rules are meant to be followed and there are times when the rules must be broken. Like I have stated rules are there to keep order and peace. But there must be leaders to make those laws and people to enforce them. If a law is keeping you from doing something that you know is good then brake that law in order to do good because you should ALWAYS trust in your “guts” so to say. But that doesn’t mean you should go and break every law to do good or to have fun. If you need to go to the restroom and a lot of other people also need to and your in a long line doesn’t mean you should assault someone just to get there. You should wait just like everyone else. But if someone is going to fall off a building or cliff that is a restricted area  and your near then you should definitely go and brake the law to save that person because it is the right thing to do.

Learning In The Age Of Coronavirus

If this virus does get even more spread out to more and more people then learning at home must be the main course of action for schools all around. There are pros and cons of this happening and doing all your school work at home. The benefits would be like having your own space to do your work so you can feel comfortable. Also not being disrupted would be a main for many people. But there are some cons and some of then are not getting the help that some people really need to actually learn. And also most people will feel like it isn't important or they have enough time so they wont do the work and defy against doing it all together.

Cue Theme Music

What I think is the central message of the Great Gatsby is that trying to attempt to change your past can and will affect your future if you don't learn how to forgive, forget and learn from your mistakes and build on them to be successful in your future. The three main reasons why I believe this is because when Gatsby was younger he failed at loving a girl named Daisy and now realises it so now he is throwing many many parties to get her to notice him. Then he even has a companion called Nick which tells him that dwelling on your past can lead to great misery and there is no way you can successfully change it. Gatsby defingly replied "of course you can change your past". Then finally he keeps tring which ultimately leads to his death and him not actually winning Daisy over.

I also have another central message that I think is also true and it's that love can make a man or women do crazy things for one another. Because Gatsby was willing to lose it all for Daisy. He threw parties just for her. He kept telling his mate Nick to invite her over for lunch and dinner. And even tells her to tell her husband that she doesn't love him anymore. Gatsby was even willing to die tring, which he really dies but is still unsuccessful.

Preview of Gatsby Essay

In the story of the Great Gatsby everyone is more related and similar to each other than you think. Because I’m this story everyone thinks they know what they want but really actually don’t. Gatsby is so tunnel visioned and distracted by love for this one girl named Daisy he is willing to risk it all to get with her. He seems that he can’t let go of the past and is so obtuse that he states that he can change the past. Then there is Nick where he thinks he must be the only honest person in this book and believes that he is being a friend. But he really isn’t even honest with himself really even though he out of everyone is the most honest person. Because if he was he could’ve stood up for Myrtle when Tom disrespectfully punches her in the nose or when all those times when he sees stuff happening and doesn’t open his mouth to others like with people cheating on other people. Then we also have Daisy where she feels like she knows what she wants in life but she really has no clue. Because she has been her husband’s shadow (Tom) and doesn’t get to experience anything on her own until she meet Gatsby and now has seen new colors for shirts and parties just for her.She also knows she wants to leave Tom because of all his cheating but just doesn’t know how I think.  .Then finally we have Tom and he wants too feel in control when he really isn’t. And he is intimidated by Gatsby because he knows she will leave him for Gatsby. With this story being so detailed all these characters have been well thought out and fit very well in this story. We have a man too blinded by love he is willing to travel too the moon and back, a girl in love but doesn’t know if it’s the right love, and a man in middle that has to decide the fait of these two love characters. Then we also get a theme where you must forgive and forget the past in order to move on to future, or else you will parish and sink your boat.

Comment for Gatsby essay

I found that all the characters have one flaw in common and that is that they all are not honest, especially with themselves. Because some are so blinded by others that they can’t see anything else and others thought they had it planned out but really don’t know what they want in life. This was really a good book and I can’t wait to do an entire essay on it.

What’s So Great About Gatsby

I honestly feel like Gatsby is trying to do good but just is blind and has tunnel vision for Daisy. He is neither a good or a bad person in my perspective, just a lost man trying to find love in a harsh society. Because he is trying so very hard to get Daisy to fall in love with him by throwing parties after parties just to get her to notice him, just like when Gatsby threw a huge party for Daisy and he wanted everything from the decorations to the food to be just for her. Then Nick opens up in the book that he thinks he is the only honest person in this book. If he was the only honest person in this book he would always be honest and tell Gatsby how he actually  feels about him and what he think he is. But he is the technically the most honest person compared to everyone else in this book that even lie to themselves. Then Fitzgerald describes that Tom and Daisy's relationship is smashed together with money and carelessness. I feel like this is true because why would Daisy even want to be with Tom if he didn’t have money. So I’m theory Daisy is a little of a gold digger. I really don’t understand Daisy’s behavior at all in this book. Because she seems so nice and rude at others and I feel like she doesn’t know what she wants I’m life. Because she always has a man like Tom to tell her what to do and when to do it. And I don’t fully agree with her choices at some times like why can’t she just dump Tom and stay with Gatsby because it’s pretty obvious that Gatsby will never cheat and disown her at all like Tom does. I wouldn’t actually advise my brother to date her but I’m not the boss of his life so I wouldn’t bother even saying anything. And the last line I feel like it means to push on in life and don't look back on your past, just learn from them and keep pushing on through the worst with experience from your past.

Gatsby Chapter 8 notes and tnoughts

Gatsby tells Nick when he shows up early in the morning that he feels like he is in love and married to Daisy. And Daisy told Tom that she basically never loved him and will never love him. Nick suggest that Gatsby should let go of the past and move on, but Gatsby informed him that of course you can change the past and make it better. I feel like the author interrupts the tense relationship drama with the secondary character and mention of the pool because he wants to show what is actually happening to Gatsby. Because during Otom season trees die and their leaves fall off just like how Gatsby is “dieing” inside because of Daisy and let’s go of all his friends and servants.

Gatsby Chapter 7

Gatsby stops having parties because Daisy doesn’t want to go and didn’t enjoy the last one at all even though everything was in fact for her. Gatsby fires his staff because he doesn’t want any more rumors to be spread about him or his doings. He replaced them with people he thinks he can trust his secrets with.

Have to Versus Want to Versus get to

There is a HUGE difference between agreeing to complete work for each other, being told what to do for homework, and exploring what you want to in your own way. Because one hand you agree to do something, on the second you have to do work, and on the other you choose to do it your way. When you agree to do something from someone else it’s not what you want to do or that your forced to it’s that you agree to do it because you feel like you can. Then sometime you are just forced to do work for people or else there are consequences for not doing them. Then finally there are the things that you want to do and you feel like you can and should do them at that certain time just because YOU want to.

Gatsby prompts further thinking

There are many good things we can write about on Gatsby and the important scenes that had happened. The things that i think are worth it is thoughts that Nick has on everyone he meets and especially on Gatsby. But the one thing i think is the most important is when Nick is saying that he thinks he might be the only honest person in this whole entire book. Because so far everyone has lied, been dishonest, and cheated on one another. Many of them are blinded by what they want and can't see what others want instead.
Why does Nick feel like he is the only honest and "real" person in this book?
Is there any good person that is honest and true like Nick and why?
Why is Nick standing by and watching while most the people around him are doing awful and unrealistic acts?

What Gatsby Says to Me

Every book has a central message and theme for their story. Some have being a good family member is better than being cool or that things don’t last forever. But the book “The Great Gatsby” is a very interesting and challenging book to read at first. Because you have no idea what’s the message or the main plot of the story is. But what I think the main theme of this story is that you can’t dwell on the past, only learn from it and move on. Because the main character is helping Gatsby try and get at this girl he had known a long time ago and fix his mistakes he had done. But Nick (the main character) then learns that he should not go through all this trouble for this one girl and move on but Gatsby just doesn’t want to. Also the theme of this story can also be that love can make a man do crazy things just for the women he loves.

Chapter 6 Gatsby

Turns out that Gatsby’s real nate is “Jay Gats” and when he was younger he was very poor and left his home to try and attempt to find a better one. When he was 17 he took any job he could find weather it was picking up trash or cleaning manure. When he was doing one of his jobs he seen an expensive yacht and took a boat towards it. Once next to it the rich man who owned the boat likes his enthusiasm and took him under his wing. The old rich man also stated that he would drink alcohol anymore because during his parties the women would rub alcohol in his hair. And when the old man died he gave Gatsby 25,000 dollars to him along with the experience he has had with the old rich man. And then Gatsby came and invested in drug stores that have now made him so much money. Now after his back story Gatsby ended up throwing a huge party for Daisy and invited everyone and Tom didn’t like Gatsby saying “who is this bootlegger!?” After a whole of Tom talking with other women and Gatsby dancing with Daisy, Nick, Gatsby, and Daisy went out back to smooch a little while Nick kept watch. Once the party was over and Daisy was upset that Tom was talking with other girls Gatsby was angry that Daisy didn’t enjoy the party. Nick then tells Gatsby that “you can’t repeat the past” and Gatsby replies “...why of course you can”

Chapter 5 Gatsby Notes and Thoughts

NOTES
After Nick came home when he was with Jordan Gatsby wanted to do things but Nick didn’t feel like it. Nick made tea with Gatsby and invited Daisy over. Gatsby is so embarrassed that he went outside and waited for the two to go in the house and when they did Gatsby knocked on the door like her barley came. Daisy and Gatsby were very nervous and didn’t really say much to each other and Nick was trying to get them to be comfortable. There was rain and the rain was uneasy, complicating, and unclear just like the time Gatsby, Daisy, and Nick were having during the bad weather. Gatsby and Nick talked about how to get the mods going and Gatsby was very nervous so Nick had to get him going. Once Nick came back the sun had came out and the weather was clear just like Gatsby and Daisy which have gotten more comfortable with each other. Then Gatsby invited them over to his house. Once there they went around looking at his decorations around his home. Gatsby took out some clothes and Daisy went and started to sob and said “I have never seen such beautiful shirts” I am pretty sure she as talking about the the bright and amazing color of the shirts. Then Daisy called them over to see the amazing clouds in which I assume it was a sunset and Nick left, leaving the two alone by themselves.

Gatsby Chapter 4 Notes

While Nick is finding more about Gatsby by the second Nicks is also finding out that he might be the only honest person in his book. Nick has more to learn about Gatsby and will soon learn them, but the story takes some wild turns towards the end of the chapter. So we find out that Gatsby has been throwing these parties for a girl and hoping she would come to them. One day Gatsby invited Nick out for lunch and meet up with an old man who then they had many discussions. When the old man had to go him and Gatsby were there being normal until Gatsby got up and went to do something. Then out of nowhere Tom arrived to the lunch and when Nick looked around to see where Gatsby was he was nowhere to be found. Later on in the chapter we then come to see that Gatsby had been with Daisy (Toms wife) back when they were younger and I guess Gatsby didn't want to be around Tom at all. I sure hope the next chapter will be even more exciting.

Now It's A Party/Gatsby Chapter 3

Chapter 3 of the Great Gatsby is a pretty interesting one. Because now Nick is going to parties and meets Gatsby. The party Nick goes to is hosted by Gatsby and he was actually invited rather than the other rich people who just show up. And some of the guest are very rude and look down upon Nick during his time there. Nick is now trying to get know Gatsby a little better and Gatsby is trying to do the same. Nick hears many rumors about Gatsby and doesnt know which ones he should believe in. One of the rumors were that he was a spy and that he had killed someone during his mission. But i'm sure Nick knew that one was a lie. Chapter 3 was surely a good one and i hope the other chapters offer the same satisfaction.

How You Know What I Know

Many people learn in many different ways and have different techniques on how they do it. Some will take notes on what they have learned about while others just try and store it in their head. How I can show what I have learned   about what we read is by taking notes on what's happening in the book and explaining things about the specific book that only a person who reads it knows what i'm talking about. Also taking test and quizzes help us jog our memoire and forces people to study whether they like or not.

My M.O.M. On My Big Question

The phrase M.O.M. means minuet of mindfulness. It’s a thoughtful thinking process we do at the beginning of class everyday. During those seconds of me thinking to myself a lot of thoughts and visions come to mind. But during my 6 minutes of M.O.M. specifically thinking about my big question I thought about if it is illegal to drop out of high school right away, I also thought if it’s even possible to be taken serious if you don’t even have a high school degree. And then I came to one thought that I couldn’t get out of my head for 3 minutes. Can anyone drop out of high school and make it somewhere. Like does it take a certain person to do so or can any person that can follow simple steps do it.

Nick Cardinal Virtue

What his “Cardinal Virtue” means is that it is true but also a big deal and can mean bad. But what he means by his statement is that he feels like he is being rude but he is the only one telling the truth in this story and with the people he has meet and talked with over his life time. Now I feel like we all see Nick as a un humble character. Even though all he has said about other people and how they talk with others and react to one another is true it shouldn’t give him the right to say he is better than everyone, even though he is. Many people have different opinions I assume but I just feel like he was not being humble at all and was a little arrogant.

Who are the people in your neighborhood/Gatsby Ch4 reading notes

  • The narrator explained a lot about the characters that were involved In Gatsby's party
  • Then tells shows the readers how unhappy these people are with their lives
  • And how much these people are dishonest and mean

B.Q.G.S.D.

So my big Question was about weather or not we need a High School education to be successful in life. I got many different answers when I would ask people about this like “of course you need one” or “why wouldn’t you want to get an education, it will help you in the long run” and also “you will be port of you don’t pass high school”. But I remember seeing a man on an add that was saying that he became a millionaire without passing high school. And I know that your obviously not supposed to always believe an add that pops up on your YouTube video but I was very curious on if this was true or not. I still have to research more on this man. But other things I would like to know that is about my “Big Question” is weather or not it matters when you drop out of high school. Or if you always have to do something in a certain way if you want to become a millionaire. Or if you can even be a millionaire any more since everyone might know about this. I still have many questions that need to be answered and I hope I can find them.

Gatsby pp 38-48

It’s these pages of the Great Gatsby many very interesting things had happened. Daisy was talking about why should Tom and his wife even still be together. But then goes on to say that they can’t get divorced because she is a catholic and doesn’t believe in getting in a divorce. And then the story goes on and tells the reader the narrator (Nick) goes for some whiskey and it definitely shows he is drunk on the pages and his way of words. This was happening all throughout the chapter and it was actually cool because I never expected that to happen at all and it’s something I never seen at all in any book. So as we dive deeper in the chapter we can all see that Tom is a selfish prick and doesn’t even care for his “loved” ones. Because Tom broke mertles nose out of an annoyance because she was saying “Daisy, Daisy, Daisy...” and didn’t stop until Tom swing his huge fist at her. If she can do that to her imagine what she will do to a person he is actually angry at.

-made a certain sentence look like they were drunk in which they were
-Tom broke mertle’s nose with his fist because she was annoying him
-as the second chapter was progressing the narrator was getting more and more drunk to where you can see it on the pages
-Tom is selfish and doesn’t have any regard for human life. He puts down his wife and he feels like she should always put her in her place

Gatsby pp 27-38

Now as we are progressing more into the “Great Gatsby” everything is getting more interesting and confusing at the same time. It’s very interesting because now we find out that Toms wife has a significant other which is poor and works as a mechanic and she even acts like it is nothing. Because she is all up in jim and right when Tom roles in by she is not like that at all and she tells Tom to go get some chairs and as he is gone she gets back with the mechanic and when Tom returns with the chairs she wanted to leave. Then I also stated that it’s getting confusing because the wife basically has two moods she gets in like when she is with Tom she is all high and mighty with all this money and when she was with the mechanic she was poor and calm. These characters are very confusing and the couple seem to not like each other at all and they probably shouldn’t have gotten together in the first place. But that’s just my opinion based on what I have read and I’m sure there will be more to learn about this lovely couple.

-Toms wife was cheating on him with a mechanic and she acts like nothing is happening. She tells tom to go out and get chairs while she makes plans with her significant other.

Gatsby pages 11-22

What happened during dinner, whats toms problems, and are these people happy

Between the pages of 11-22 of the Great Gatsby a few interesting things have happened. Like when they were having dinner. Which the main character Nick was having dinner with a wife and a husband that were fighting over a few things. And the wife was very sure of herself and changed the topic quickly. And the husband was a racist and believed that the whites need to keep things in order. While Nick was just trying to have a nice dinner. The husbands name was tom and he had a problem with his wife and many other things. These people aren’t happy to what I have read and seem to be hard to please. And the wife explains that her new born  daughter is a fool and I really want to know why would she, a mom of a new born daughter ever call them that.

-Why would a mother say something that mean about her own daughter

What's In My Big Question For Me

My Big Question was that weather if you need a highschool and college education to be successful in life. I really wanted to know more about this topic and what's in it for me is that I would have more information about career options for my future. Because I really want to be prepared for my future and have a plan and a back up plan in case my first plan goes south on me. Exploring this topic will open my eyes to new possibilities that I wouldn't have thought possible. Once i know the secret to investing and how to get rich the right way without an education then can explore new career options, new places to live, more family members to help, and new things that I could have never thought to buy. Knowing this information will be very beneficial to me and I would love to explore more about this topic to to have a better advantage over life and its hardships.

Dark Patterns

When I first seen this word “Dark Patterns” I thought of it as a title of a scary book then seen that it was something totally different. Dark patterns are tricky ways a website or app of some kind that tricks you into doing something you really didn’t want to or mean to. I had many encounters with this dark patterns when I go on websites where I want to play a game and tells me that another game is way better than this one and when I click on it, it makes me sign up for it and buy other things that I had no intention on doing.
While I was reading the different types of dark patterns I was truly shocked by how much there actually were. Like why would anyone want to do this. It is very frustrating when you want to do buy one thing or search another thing and the site ends up tricking, forcing, or persuading you into buying or doing something that you don’t want to. I hope that I can find a way to avoid these dark patterns more often.

Last Century's Writing Styles

A genre is a category of literary topics that are the same in storytelling and other books. naturalism is something natural is happening or is going to happen and isn't out of the ordinary. Realism is when they are talking about something can really happen or is realistic. Then modernism is when it's not in the past or future but the present day.

HopePunk

HOPEPUNK

When I found out that Hopepunk was an actual word and a new America literary genre I was shocked. Mainly because I didn't think they would add any more genres anymore. As I was researching what this word meant in Google I was finding it a little hard to specifically find the definition in the America literary. So then I typed "Hopepunk new literary genre and found this "Hopepunk, the latest storytelling trend, is all about weaponized optimism. In the era of Trump and apocalyptic change, Hopepunk is a storytelling template for #resistance — and hanging onto your humanity at all costs." I was a little thrown off by this definition because of the phrase "Trump and apocalyptic change". Because if Trump never came to power then would this genre/word have even been created in the first place. But either way authors made this because it must have been important to them and I think it was because it relates to our modern problem today. Because when is says "weaponized optimism" I think this means that to use yours or someone else's words or thoughts in a offensive way and to fight for what's right, but I don't know if its towards to Trump and his actions or not?

Argue This

Syllogism is the simplest form of logical argument
Validity is weather if it makes seans and more info is given.                      Truth and Validity
liminal: what you are but you don't know what you are going to be.

My Big Question is if a person in America needs and education to be successful in life. When I think of someone living successful I assume they went and graduated from college and found a successful job and BOOM they made it. I then found out than some people don't even go to college and became rich. Then I find out that many people have gone to college and become .Many people go to college and end up having so much in debt and can't pay them. Then they become homeless and they are doing now is slowly paying off their debt or just give up and do nothing.

A Rabbit Down The Hole

While reading on one of the links by John Steinbeck about falling in love. I learned that there are two main types of love, the “selfish, mean, grasping, egotistical thing which uses love for self-importance.” Nobody should ever have this kind of love because it’s very bad for people and nobody deserves this. The other kind is “an outpouring of everything good in you of kindness and consideration and respect...” This kind is the best kind and everyone should experience it in their lifetime. I choose this one because to me it stood out the most. Because I feel like love is a powerful thing and it can make a man do crazy things for the person they love.

Notes From Today's Lecture, MLK

Martin Luther King Jr,  gave a speech about mens and womens rights in front of thousands of Americans. His speech was very powerful and moved a lot of people's mindset about African-Americans and to show that everyone is equal and deserves equal rights. When MLK states 'Exiled in his own land" I was moved. Because what he said was very true and everyone knows it.
When MLK speaks and how he speaks makes him an amazing speaker. He wanted everyone to have equal rights and live equally amongst each other. He then goes on to say that America will never truly peaceful and complete until everyone is equal, including all African-Americans.
MLK is also very respected because he doesn't insult anyone in his speech and uses a very high vocabulary as he speaks. He uses phrases and metaphors that he knows the audience will understand and uses this to persuade them to listen and understand what he is saying to them. Everyone has a dream and MLK had a huge one. MLK also makes the government feel bad for what they have done to the African-Americans with pathos. He then uses logos in his speech about how torturing a human being is not logical.

American Literature

I contribute to American Literature in many ways actually and so do many people that live here in America. The ways I know that I contribute to American Literature is when u write essays and even more when I write essays about history or our culture. I also participate in many American culture activities like celebrating holidays, learning about our U.S. history about American Literature, and I even speak it everyday. I am sure I will continue to use American Literature in speaking and writing until I die.

The world is my library

The novels that stood out from my perspective was “Moby Dick or, the whale” by Herman Melville, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain, and “Native Son” by Richard Wright. All though I haven’t read these stories yet, the way cover, title, and pictures show makes it look like a good book to read. I know I shouldn’t “Judge a book by its cover” but I do it a lot and I’m sure everyone else does as well. These books caught me attention because of the way they look mostly, but Moby Dick has been a story that I knew but this one is different and more interesting. The other books I wanted to put in here because of how fast they caught my attention.
